Tips and Tricks for Non-Toxic Cleaning
We know exactly what goes into getting a great clean (spoiler alert – it’s not harmful ingredients). We’re here with a little extra know-how, so you can get the very best from your non-toxic cleaning products. Together, we’ll have your home sparkling in no time.
Leave it for longer
Non-toxic products can still be powerful – they just need a little more time for their ingredients to get to work and do their thing. And when we say a little, we only mean a few minutes.
Bathroom cleaner: For most surfaces, leave for around 3 minutes. Heavier watermarks need a little longer – around 5 minutes should do the trick!
Multi purpose cleaner: For most surfaces, leave for up to 5 minutes to let the product really take effect. On greasy hobs or splashbacks, you might want to leave it for 10 minutes.
And if you’re just doing some light cleaning, you can spray and wipe straight away.
Choose your cloth wisely
Use our sprays with the right cloth, and you’ll boost your cleaning game to the next level.
Use a high-quality microfibre cloth:
The fibres in these cloths have been split to make them soft, fine and absorbent – perfect for trapping and lifting away dirt. Investing in high-quality cloths means you’ll avoid the fabric breaking down and shedding lint as you work.
Luckily, we stock two cloths that are perfect: Microfibre cleaning cloth (multipurpose) & Fishscale glass cloth (for glass and shiny surfaces).
Wet or dry? On most surfaces, we recommend dampening your cloth with warm water. The water and the product do the hard work, breaking down dirt and grime and helping it cling to the cloth as you wipe.
If you’re polishing wooden surfaces, a dry cloth is better.
And if you’re cleaning a shiny surface? Spray, wipe with a damp cloth and then buff to a shine with a dry cloth. Or if you’re in a hurry, spray and wipe straight away with a dry cloth.
Who knew cloth choice could be so important, eh?
Use it another way
Our products are multi-taskers, so you can use them in different ways.
As well as cleaning bathroom surfaces, our bathroom spray can be used:
● For the kitchen sink (especially if it has mild watermarks).
● Down the loo. Just spray all around and under the rim, leave for a few minutes, agitate with a toilet brush (if you want to) and then leave it to work for 30-60 minutes before flushing.
And along with being excellent at making your loo sparkle, you can use our toilet powder as a scrub for grubby, stained sinks, plug holes and more. Just wet the area so that it’s damp, sprinkle with powder and scrub with a warm damp cloth, sponge or scourer
Skip the spray
Not a fan of trigger sprays? We know some like to avoid breathing in sprays, and some avoid trigger sprays for environmental reasons. Others just find it easier to use the product direct on a cloth.
Our products are mixed as a spray to make them easy to use (and our trigger sprays are recyclable), but if you prefer, you don’t have to spray them at all. Just choose the screw top option when you’re buying your forever bottle.
You can then dampen your cloth with your diluted product and wipe it directly onto the surface. In fact, that’s the way many professional cleaners prefer to work!
