Hi, I'm Lauren, a cleaning professional with over ten years of experience. As the owner of my own eco-cleaning business, I've witnessed firsthand the effects on health of excessive use of chemicals in cleaning products that we probably have all purchased at some point. These chemicals pose risks such as causing reactions like rashes, headaches, sore eyes, and even respiratory issues. These reactions are not just inconvenient, they can be dangerous!

With Natrie I want to help you clean your home without risking your health. You'll still get the results you expect from a cleaning product: sparkling windows, clean floors and toilets that smell fresh. But now you can do it without exposing yourself to harmful chemicals or side effects like allergies or soreness in your hands. 

I have created these products because they are what I wish had been available when I started working as a cleaner: safe, effective alternatives that leave me free to focus on cleaning; not feeling ill!

How Natrie came to life…

I’ve been professionally cleaning since 2016 because I wanted a flexible job that I could fit around my busy life as a mum. Now the owner of a cleaning company, I’m passionate about making some BIG changes in the industry and helping others  who want to do the same by providing super effective, kinder, cleaning products. 

And it was when I started getting these horrific symptoms that I knew something had to change; not just for people with allergies like me, but for our children and the planet. 

Natrie came to life from a personal journey. Having Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), hypermobile EDS, eczema and sensitive skin, I always sought out skincare products suitable for my sensitivities. But it wasn't until I began using cleaning products daily for work that I realised their impact on my allergies and overall well-being. The symptoms were undeniable. Flushed and burning skin, constant eczema flare-ups, and persistent wheezing; all caused by harsh chemical cleaners. 

This experience ignited my curiosity. Cue me researching the ingredients and scouring the product safety data sheets! I was so shocked and saddened to learn about the impact of these on people, aquatic life and pets. In fact, I discovered that one hugely popular antibacterial product has been proven to be fatal to dogs when used on floors. The sheer scale of its annual sales was mind-boggling.

When I researched ingredients further, I found that even essential oils can be harmful to aquatic life, can cause & aggravate allergies & are some professionals claim that they are actually being misused (dangerously) by the cleaning & cosmetic industries. They are powerful oils which have amazing healing properties but were not designed to be used as fragrances nor in the quantities seen today. Many people have developed allergies to them as a result of their overuse. 

Something has to change. 

As a cleaning professional and business owner, I understand why people hesitate to embrace eco-friendly cleaning products; they doubt their effectiveness. But I know that some of the most time tested & traditional cleaning materials, like bicarbonate of soda, can be incredibly powerful.

That's why I partnered with a professional chemist to develop products that harness the potency of these time tested cleaning materials in a modern, user-friendly way. We tested countless versions of the products in real life cleaning scenarios, refining them to maximise effectiveness. The result is a powerful blend of chemistry and professional cleaning expertise.

We’ve created cleaning products that are kind to skin, non-toxic, low allergen and really really effective at removing dirt and grime.  

I can use these as someone with MCAS (but always test first if you suffer as we are all different).

 

I also knew that I needed these products to be the best version of eco that they could be. Each ingredient was carefully chosen, ensuring it does no harm to aquatic life and carries no allergy warnings. This meticulous selection process is why developing these products took considerable time. To me, an eco product has to do less harm when it’s flushed down the drain, or it’s not eco. It is so much more than packaging alone. 

I will write more about the packaging journey I have been on, but at every step when considering packaging or ingredients, I have done my utmost to make choices that are truly better for our planet and our health. 

And finally, you might be skeptical, thinking, "Sure, they claim to be eco and allergy friendly, but do they actually work?" 

I completely understand your hesitation. Many eco-friendly products on the market today simply don't live up to their promises and fail to match the effectiveness of standard alternatives. 

However, as a professional cleaner and the proud owner of a cleaning company, I have firsthand knowledge of what it takes to achieve a thorough clean. I understand that a bathroom cleaner should leave taps and sinks sparkling, while also making it easier to tackle stubborn grime in the bath. Similarly, a kitchen cleaner must be able to combat grease build-up behind the stove effectively. I know that a cleaning product should simplify the cleaning process and make it more efficient. 

As a busy working mum, I also appreciate the importance of products that make my life easier, including those that enable me to make environmentally conscious choices. And I don't want to spend extra time and effort scrubbing away at stubborn stains. 

That's why I've developed these products with all of us in mind. Busy working parents; those dealing with allergies, those dealing with hormone issues, chronic illnesses like MCAS but also those who want a clean house. They are designed to not only cater to our skincare needs and allergies but also accommodate our hectic schedules and the demands of our sinks!
